WHAT IS STEAM?

What is STEAM Education?

The STEAM framework, developed in 2006 by Georgette Yakman, is similar to its predecessor that you may be familiar with, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). But STEAM introduces a new component: Art. So, what makes STEAM different? It’s quite simple: STEM components largely use the left brain, which is responsible for logic as it pertains to science, technology, engineering, and math. What STEM is missing is the other half of the brain! The right brain is responsible for our creativity and innovation, which is critical for a child’s development in their early education and provides us as humans with an appreciation of art and design.


Simply put, the STEAM framework is “Science & Technology interpreted through Engineering & the Arts, all understood with elements of Math,” said by

Through the STEAM framework, the five components are no longer separate; they are combined in a synergistic manner that allows us to explore how the components are connected. 


The goal of STEAM is to ignite an interest in the arts and sciences at a young age. Our puzzles serve as the perfect opportunity to foster that passion and inspire further exploration among learners of any age.
